Dynamic Visual Acuity assesses a person’s ability to focus on words, while moving the head, such as reading window display signs while walking past a shop. During this test, the letter ‘E’ flashes in different directions on a screen. The patient has to identify the direction of the ‘E’ in both static and dynamic environments. The ‘E’ decreases in size until the patient’s visual threshold is determined. Should there be a discrepancy between the static and dynamic results, it is indicative of an abnormality.
