Rechargeable aids sit in a small charging case overnight and give you a full day (14 – 24 hours) of use per charge — no fiddling with tiny batteries, no scrambling when they die at an inconvenient moment. Disposable-battery aids use a size 10, 13 or 312 zinc-air battery that lasts 5 – 10 days depending on usage and Bluetooth streaming.
Rechargeable is the right answer for most patients — easier to handle (especially with arthritis or vision issues), lower ongoing cost, and no waste. Batteries still win in specific cases: if you travel to remote areas with no reliable power, or if you use the aids only occasionally and rechargeables would sit unused.
