Vestibular rehabilitation is a structured, evidence-based exercise programme that retrains your balance system after inner-ear injury, BPPV, vestibular neuritis, Ménière's disease, concussion or age-related balance decline. It works because the brain is highly adaptive — with the right exercises, it can compensate for a damaged or asymmetric vestibular system.
A programme is tailored to your specific test results and typically involves gaze-stabilisation exercises, habituation exercises for motion sensitivity, and balance retraining. Sessions are usually 20 – 30 minutes and most patients see meaningful improvement within 2 – 4 weeks. It's active, not passive — you'll be given exercises to do at home, and the recovery depends on doing them.
